The Champion Lakes Golf Club "Bed and Breakfast", opened in the
summer of 1995, can accommodate the most
avid golf enthusiasts, who need the
second day of golf. The
"Bed and Breakfast" also serves as the perfect setting for those weekend
golf outings and perfect golf weekend for married golfers and the opportunity
for the golf widow, who can enjoy the shopping and sightseeing opportunities
in historic Ligonier while her spouse enjoys a day of golf.
The
nine-room, sports-themed Bed and Breakfast cottage can accommodate up to 18
guests. all the rooms are furnished with private baths, air conditioning and
heating units, and color televisions. The rooms are named after former Pittsburgh
Pirate teammates of course owners Dick Groat and Jerry Lynch, including Bill
Mazeroski, Elroy Face, Bob Friend, and Bill Virdon. A lounge area, which is
furnished with a fireplace, can be also be converted into a king-sized bed
suite. This room, called the "Player's Lounge" is a tribute to
sports celebrities such as former Pirate broadcaster, the late Bob Prince, long
time Pittsburgh sportscaster Bill Hillgrove, and former Pitt All-America and
NFL All-Pro Bill Fralic, a frequent player at Champion Lakes.
